Newsletter No 2. 2007/2008 season, 30^th December, 2007

I am pleased to report progress in the Division at the Christmas/New Year break. The result of one match is under discussion but otherwise all fixtures have been completed. Whatever the outcome of that discussion, Skelmersdale 2 has a clear lead at the head of the table with a perfect 10 points from 5 matches. Next are Atticus 5 with 6 points from four and Hoylake 2 with 6 points from five matches. Next come Prescot 3 with 4 points, Southport 2, 2 points both from five matches and lastly Southport 3 with no points from 4 matches.

The latest league table is displayed over-leaf. At this half-way stage of the season, Skelmersdale 2 has established a significant advantage. Other teams will need to perform very well if they are to trouble the leaders. The first challenge for Skelmersdale will come with the meeting with Atticus 5 in mid-January. It will be interesting to see how things develop.

In the Player of the Year Competition, the competition is close at this early stage. Current leaders are F McLean of Prescot 3 and S O’Brien of Skelmersdale 2, both with 3.5 points. Equal third are J Davis of Hoylake 2, W Heyes and R Pittman of Skelmersdale 2 and R Solman and L Evans of Southport 2, all with 3 points.

A list of players who have scored 2 points or more is shown overleaf. Of course, players from Atticus 5 and Southport 3 have an extra match to be taken into consideration.

I would like to thank team captains for their response to my plea for result cards.
