half point bye
Players may take a half-point bye in any round except the last provided it is claimed on their entry form.
gradings
The latest available ECF grades will be used. Precedence will be given to Rapidplay grades, but an A-C standard play grade will take precedence over a Rapidplay E grade
All other players should provide details of any grades in other lists, previous grades held (and years to which they applied) and competitive results with opponents' strengths.
juniors and veterans
Juniors are those under 18 (Veterans 60 or over) on 1st September 2006.
conditions
The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or to transfer a player to a different section at any time. Prizes will be shared in the event of a tie, or if a player qualifies for more than one prize. By entering, players agree that their address details may be used to send them information on future congresses, and that their grading information may be shown on the ECF website.
It is a condition of entry that in all matters concerning the conduct of the congress the decision of the Congress Arbiters is final.

the venue
The Civic Hall is a spacious and well-lit venue, with wheelchair access. It is convenient for local shops, playing fields and car parks. Hot and cold refreshments will be available. No smoking is permitted in the playing area.
travel directions and parking
If travelling north from M58 Junction 3 follow signs for Southport A570 through Ormskirk town centre until the road narrows by the parish church. At the junction you are advised to take the right fork and then park in "The Stiles" (entrance 75 yards on the right). Cross the road and walk back to the junction turning right past the church - the Civic Hall is the next building on the left.
No parking is allowed in Church Fields (the residential road alongside the Civic Hall). Special arrangements can be made for those with disabilities - please contact the organisers beforehand.
The venue is only five to ten minutes walk from Ormskirk railway and bus stations. A detailed map is available on request.

A well-stocked chess bookstall with associated chess
